I grew up on a dairy farm near Paeroa so always had dogs, stock and animals around me. I have always admired my dads affinity with animals and I'm honoured to have inherited his gift.
One of my first memories of being fascinated by a dogs behaviour was when we went tramping in the Karangahake Gorge to help build the DOC huts with our collie Abby when I was a kid. Dad was in the front, three kids in the middle and mum at the rear. I think I was 7 or 8 at the time. Abby kept on going from the front to the back and to the front again. Over and over the whole way. She was absolutely exhausted at the end. I've always remembered that.
My Labrador Jessie and I started Doggy Beach Break on the Matakana Coast after realising there were many dogs that had daily walks, but needed true doggy adventures where they could totally be themselves and let their inner doggy nature shine.
Our own space was needed as the DBB family grew and that's how Doggy Bush Break originated. We now have 130 acres just for dogs three minutes north of Hill Street in Warkworth. There are grassy fields with tracks for those that need to run, ponds for those that like to swim, mud for dogs that wallow and native bush to explore.
The pure joy on a dogs face when they realise they are coming on one of our adventure walks is just one of the highlights of my day, and they always return home a happy and tired, but most importantly of all - a more confident and well socialised dog.
Your dog will learn pack etiquette and real doggy life socialisation skills with the DBB family.
To have a balanced and calm pack of dogs under control, your dog will learn to listen and obey. I'm pretty strict. All dogs receive training while they walk.
We can offer your dog a true adventure experience of running with an established pack of calm and balanced dogs.
